Al Hunt's Situation Room - Monday, September 3, 2007
That’s all folks! Pack in the baguettes, burn your berets and delete the underground techno from your play lists. The European vacation is over and the top of the WQS ratings is temporarily set before we finish out the year. Jeremy Flores wrapped up the European leg of the men’s Grind with a win at the 6-Star Billabong Buondi Pro in Portugal, however the next big developments for our global campaigners will be at the World Tour level. Who will double-qualify? Who needs to man up? Read on and find out.

A Long Walk to Liencres
Oh, the life of a touring pro! Our girls have just finished up in Brazil and have traversed the Atlantic on their way to Spain for the Rip Curl Girls Festival, but not without some “Fear and Loathing”-like experiences first. This week’s adventure included a bloodied world champ, a dingy hospital, whitewater rafting, newborn babies, Buckingham Palace and Nelson Mandela (in the flesh) – that you thought your lives were hectic!

Labor Day with the Pros
Today is Labor Day in the U.S; a holiday which began in 1882 giving a day of rest to the “working man.” And amidst the legions of bricklayers and plumbers, teachers and stockbrokers, our surfers should receive a day off too. After all, they put in countless hours, gorging themselves on flawless waves, attracting legions of fans, making tons of…hmmm. Anyways, we caught up with some of our guys and girls to find out what they’re doing on their most-deserving day off.

Who’s the Boss?
Think you know the boys better than they know themselves? Maybe you do, but we want to see you prove it. That’s right – it’s time to put all those hours of job-jeopardizing webcast watching to good use and take on the world yourself. Before the upcoming Boost Mobile Pro presented by Hurley starts, be sure to register and pick your team of 8 on Fantasy Surfer. Play for prizes, play against friends, create clubhouses and talk smack with other cyber gurus worlds away. And if your mom asks what all this is going to accomplish, tell her you’re learning about budgeting – she’ll be so proud, she’ll probably bake you cookies.

Andys and Parkos and Tajs, Oh My!
The wait is over. ASP Foster’s 45 stalwarts Andy Irons, Joel Parkinson and Taj Burrow will be releasing their much-heralded Trilogy this week, unveiling the global premiere in San Diego. From acclaimed producer Taylor Steele, the man who has helmed some of the greatest surf vids in history, this movie of epic proportions will showcase the ripping of some of the finest surfers to ever step foot on a board. U.S., Australian and European tours are scheduled to follow.
